The Barrie Baycats needed extra innings to defeat the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 Wednesday during Intercounty Baseball League action at Dominico Field at Christie Pits.

A pair of wild pitches scored Hayden Jacob and Avery Tuck in the 12th inning giving the Baycats the victory.

With the exception of Yoichi Ishihara scoring in the eighth inning to tie the game for the Maple Leafs, the rest of the scoring came in the first.

Starlin Rodriguez got things going for the Baycats with a two-run home run, before Ryan Rijo hit a solo shot.

Garrett Takamatsu responded with an RBI single in the bottom half of the inning, before Dan Marra did the same.

Brad Grieveson picked up the win, allowing only two hits in four innings of work. Zach Sloan picked up the loss. With the exception of the rough first inning, Maple Leafs starter Sam Greene was fantastic, throwing five innings, and fanning eight.

The Baycats are now 15-7 and host the London majors Saturday at 4:05 p.m. The Maple Leafs drop to 13-12 and visit the Brantford Red Sox Saturday at 8 p.m.
