Victoria , BC – Dallas Macias had a three-hit game and scored twice to help lead the Victoria HarbourCats to a 6-1 win over the Wenatchee AppleSox in West Coast League action Sunday afternoon at Wilson’s Group Stadium in Victoria.

The win gives the HarbourCats the sweep over the AppleSox but more importantly vaults the HarbourCats over the AppleSox into first place in the second half standings (9-3), first place overall in the North Division (28-11) and first place overall in the entire West Coast League.  It also improves the HarbourCats home record to 20-1 , the only loss coming to Yakima on Sunday June 18th.

The HarbouCats scored three runs in the first two innings Sunday and then never looked back, as starting pitcher Flynn Ridley and relievers Brett Harvey, Cody Howard and Russell Derbyshire held the AppleSox to just six hits on the day.

Offensively, in addition to Macias’s strong day, Hudson Shupe upped his league leading batting average to .420 with a 2 for 4 day at the plate, while Tyler Davis added a pair of hits and an RBI to the winning effort.

The HarbourCats now head to Nanaimo for the first installment of the 2023 Battle for Vancouver Island, as they begin a three-game set with the NightOwls on Tuesday evening at Serauxmen Stadium.  They will then head home for a three game set beginning Friday against the Coquitlam Angels.
