HAMILTON – Hector Yan fanned 15 over six scoreless innings, and the Guelph Royals’ offence took care of the rest in an 11-6 win Friday night in Hamilton.
Yan (1-4) scattered two hits and walked five.
At the plate, Ethan Hammond and Malik Collymore each drove in a pair of runs. Conner Morro went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Kyle Kush drove in a run and scored four times, Brendan Keys had two hits and two runs, and Darius Barlas, Jeff MacLeod and Tristan Pompey all drove in a run.
Cardinals’ starter Jayson Wilbur (0-4) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits over five innings. He walked three and struck out three.
Luis Bernardo hit a three-run blast for Hamilton to cap a six-run ninth inning. Aidan Muir and Dennis Dei Baning each had an RBI, and Laine Renaud scored on an error.
Guelph improved to 16-19 and moved past Hamilton into fifth place, and the Cards dropped to 15-19.
De Oleo’s 12th home run sends Majors past Maple Leafs
LONDON – Eduardo De Oleo moved into a tie for the IBL home run lead as the London Majors knocked off Toronto, 16-7, Friday night at Labatt Park.
De Oleo’s two-run blast in the second inning was his 12th longball of the season, tying him with Hamilton’s Tyler Duncan.
De Oleo wasn’t the only Majors’ hitter to finish with four RBI. Austin Wilkie went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and Starling Joseph drove in four runs on four hits. Cleveland Brownlee and Robert Mackie both homered and drove in two, Byron Reichstein had three hits and Jordan Schulefand went 2-for-3.
Wilbur Martinez (2-1) picked up the win, going 5.2 innings and allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits. He walked two and struck out seven.
Tommy Reyes-Cruz earned his first save with 3.1 innings of relief. He gave up three runs on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
London moved to 11-20.
Grant Tamane drove in two for the Leafs (16-16). Jose Vinicio, Jordan Castaldo and Johnathan Solazzo all had two hits and a run, while Dan Marra, Garrett Takamatsu and Ryan Dos Santos had an RBI apiece.
Sam Greene (3-2) took the loss, allowing eight runs on 11 hits over four innings. He walked one and struck out six.
