The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its B45 Baseball Players of the Week for July 31 to August 6, 2023.
Toronto shortstop Jose Vinicio (Santo Domingo, D.R.) was named Batter of the Week, following an impressive 11-for-18 (.611) effort which saw him swat three home runs and drive in five RBI, while scoring eight runs himself.
The Maple Leafs’ leadoff hitter, who reached AAA with three different organizations, is now hitting .348 on the season and leads the IBL with 23 stolen bases.
Barrie left-hander Frank Garcés (San Cristobal, D.R.) was named Pitcher of the Week, following a dominant complete-game shutout performance against Welland on August 5.
Garcés struck out 12 hitters in the Baycats’ 4-0 victory, scattering three hits over nine innings of work against the Jackfish.
The former San Diego Padre now sports a 6-0 record and 2.46 ERA in 2023 — and owns an eye-popping 18.25 K/BB ratio.
