The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) today announced that Welland relief pitcher Deivy Mendez (San Pedro de Macoris, D.R.) has been named the League’s Rawlings Player of the Month for July 2023.
The Jackfish right-hander did not allow an earned run in July, striking out 16 over nine innings of work while allowing just five hits. Mendez also recorded three saves, posted a 2-0 record and boasted a 0.67 WHIP.
Remarkably, the Dominican reliever has not allowed an earned run in 27 career IBL regular-season appearances dating back to last season.
