The Toronto Maple Leafs Baseball Club has announced the re-signing of both Rob Butler as Manager and Jeff Lounsbury as General Manager for the 2024 season. Butler, known for his significant contributions to the 1993 World Series as a player with the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies, successfully led the Maple Leafs to a semi-final appearance in his previous managerial role in 2023. His experience across various levels of baseball, including a notable impact in the IBL, is considered a significant asset for the Maple Leafs.

Butler stated, “I am fortunate to be back with the Maple Leafs. The quality of baseball is fantastic and our fans are passionate.  The new ownership of the Maple Leafs combined with our dedicated players is going to make this a VERY exciting season for the Maple Leafs. So happy to be part of it!”

Jeff Lounsbury, returning for his second season as General Manager, brings extensive experience from his tenure in the IBL, especially with the Hamilton Cardinals, and as a successful coach at Brock University. His achievements in baseball, highlighted by his 2016 induction into the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame, demonstrate his deep understanding and effectiveness in the sport. Lounsbury’s collaboration with Butler in the previous season was effective as the Maple Leafs made a trip to last year’s semi-finals.

“I am honoured to return for another season at Christie Pits. Last season, was an amazing experience working with Rob Butler and the players. I am excited to be asked to play a part in this new chapter of Toronto Maple Leaf baseball” said Lounsbury. “I respected Jack and this franchise so much over my years in the IBL and after meeting and speaking with this new ownership group I cannot wait to see how they grow this iconic and historic franchise. I am here to help support Rob, the club’s new owners, a passionate fan base, volunteers, and a dedicated core of veteran players.”

“It is crucial to preserve the hard work and dedication that others before me have done to usher in a new era of Maple Leafs baseball at the Pits.” said Lounsbury.
