The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its B45 Baseball Players of the Week for July 24 to 30, 2023.
London catcher Eduardo De Oleo (San Juan de la Maguana, D.R.) earned Batter of the Week honours, after his monstrous four-home run effort in the Majors’ 18-6 win at Kitchener on July 30.
De Oleo went 6-for-17 (.353) with five home runs and 11 RBI — the latter two league leading — during the week. On the season, he currently sits second in the IBL in slugging percentage (.718) and home runs (11).
Guelph Royals right-hander Claudio Custodio (La Romana, D.R.) was named Pitcher of the Week, following a dominant six-inning performance against Hamilton on July 29.
Custodio, the 2022 IBL Most Valuable Player, struck out 10 over six innings of work while surrendering just two hits and one unearned run in his first outing of 2023.
